It was mid afternoon, but Yellow wasn't aware of the time. The young girl was fast asleep at the base of a tree in the middle of the forest. No, it wasn't Viridian forest, but she felt at home just the same. As usual, her pikachu by the nickname of Chuchu was fast asleep right beside her, curled up near the blond's head. Dodo, her dodrio, was resting in his pokeball, and Kitty the butterfree was out collecting fruit for when the group woke up.

"Vuuuuuullll..." Amber yawned followed by a light smacking of her mouth. She opened her eyes. Ace always woke up too early for her taste so Amber usually spent her mornings sleeping on his shoulder as he walked. Today it seemed like Ace was walking through some forest. Trees and their leaves filled the majority of her vision.
"Hey! You decided to wake up," Ace smiled at his shoulder companion, "You hungry? I just found some apple trees." Amber looked up and sure enough, there were shiny red apples with a hint of yellow. Ace reached up to pick the closest one when the apple vanished in a blur of color.
"Freeeee!" a shrill voice laughed as a Butterfree flew away carrying multiple apples.
"Hey!" Ace shouted and then face Amber, "You're just going to let that Butterfree get away?" His Vulpix only replied with another yawn and lazy look back. Amber was hungry, but she was even more tired.
Ace shook his head and took off running after the Butterfree, "Hey gimme that apple!"
[Sorry I sorta controlled Kitty. If you want me to change it just say so.]

(it's cool, sry for the typos, I'm on my ipod)
While Yellow and the rest of the small team rested, Kitty has been working on gathering up enough food for lunch. So far he had gotten some peaches, nuts, and berries. Just as he started to pick a few apples, he found himself being chased by a trainer and a sleepy looking fire pokemon. Much like his trainer, Kitty didn't like fighting, so he flew high above the trees hoping that he could get back to Yellow soon. It seemed as though he was going to get away, until a pidgeotto appeared and decided that it wanted a butterfree lunch.
With the more imminent danger, Kitty swooped back down below the tree line in an attempt to lose it in the branches. The pidgeotto, however, was a great deal faster than the butterfree. Kitty found himself cut off at every turn. He was growing tired when the bird pokemon came in for the kill. To his relief, electric sparks came shooting through the trees. It wasn't an attack, but it was enough to scare off the large bird pokemon. As soon as the danger had flown the coop, Kitty flew straight for the source of the bolt just in time to collapse into Yellow's arms.
The young trainer had awoken from her nap to the sound of her pikachu calling for her to wake up. As soon ass she did, she could hear the sound of Kitty crying out, then she heard the cry of a pidgeotto on the hunt. Thinking quickly, she grabbed Dody's pokeball and called him out. Climbing on top of her dodrio, Chuchu on her shoulder, Yellow took off to find her winged companion. Once she found him, she had Chuchu send out a small bolt of electricity to scare off the bird.
With the bug pokemon now in her arms, she cradled him and stroked the back of his head. "Are you alright Kitty?" she asked him as she held him close. As per usual, the longer she held him, the better his condition became. "Freeeeeee." was the response he gave. While it was a bit weak at first, but soon he had gained enough strength to take flight again.

It was hopeless. The Butterfree quickly began to gain altitude and quickly was out of reach. Ace stopped running and sighed, "Man, we're not going to get him now." He turned to his shoulder, "And no thanks to you."
Amber only looked back before licking Ace on the cheek. "Haha, alright," Ace wiped his face, "We'll find apples elsewhere." The trainer was about to turn back around when he heard a disturbance overhead. The Butterfree was now being pursued by a Pidgeotto who seemed intent on eating Butterfree. Ace felt a pang of guilt as he knew he forced the Butterfree to expose itself to the bird of prey. He began to run after the Butterfree, drew Shadow's Duskball and threw it.
"Haunter!" the ghost pokemon cried out as he appeared looking Ace in his face. Shadow began to spin in violent barrel rolls with his tongue out so that it whipped about in ridiculous directions.
"Hey Shadow very cool, but it's not the time buddy, I need you to-" Ace's voice cut out as he watched streaks of lightning fly through the air. The Pidgeotto was obviously frightened by the lightning and flew off.
Still spinning Shadow turned to follow Ace's gaze. "Hauuun?" and with that Shadowy slowly became transparent until he was completely invisible.
"No no no!" Ace cried in alarm, "Don't you do something stupid Shadow!"
Shadow followed the Butterfree until it fell into the arms of a human girl riding a Dodrio and carrying a Pikachu. The Haunter began his new spinning trick again and slowly began to reappear into view behind the girl. "Haunter!" Shadow announced his presence to the girl and her Pokemon.
"Hey come back here!" Ace appeared in the distance running towards his Ghost Pokemon.

Glad to see that Kitty was feeling better now, Yellow lightened her grip on the butterfree so that he could fly on his own again. Soon after being released, Kitty began to explain everything that had happened, from gathering their lunch, to being chased by another trainer, and then the pidgeotto. With a smile and a small giggle, Yellow shook her head lightly. "Well at least you're alright now right Kitty?" she asked as she reached for the bag behind her with all of the fruit, tossing a berry to the butterfree.
As Kitty ate his berry, the three heads of the dodrio began to bicker over who was going to eat first. In the midst of their arguing, a ghost pokemon showed up right behind the group. Dodo went into a panic that almost knocked the young trainer off of his back. He was calmed quickly, however, with the gentle cooing of his trainer asking him to calm down, and reassuring him that he would be alright. Once Dody had settled down, Yellow then turned to the haunter. "You sure gave us a fright sir," she said in a playful tone, not angry at all that he had spooked her dodrio. "Though haunters aren't indigenous to forests, what brings a ghost pokemon like yourself out here?"

"Haunt, haunt, haunt, haunt!" Shadow laughed as the Dodrio went into a panic that nearly dismounted the human girl. He stopped spinning and looked curiously back at the girl as she asked him why he was here. He then pointed behind the girl to Ace who was running to the small group.
"Hey I'm so sorry!" Ace called out as he approached, "For whatever he did. Shadow come back here." Shadow gave an airy grunt and floated over the girl's head and towards Ace.
"Vulpix!" Amber shot Shadow a stern gaze from her perch on Ace's shoulder, but the Haunter rolled his eyes and laughed. With his Pokemon supposedly under control, Ace took time to compose himself and face the young blond girl riding a Dodrio. "Are you alright?" He asked.
