Amber's claws dug gently into Ace's scalp as the youth descended off the S.S. Hydra loading ramp and into the streets of Byzantium City. She was obviously very excited. The air was filled with new smells pleasant and foul. And some that were just... well smells. Plus she was happy to be off the boat. Living over the ocean wasn't what she considered ideal.
"Hey look Amber," Ace spoke to the Vulpix positioned on his head, "We made it!" Amber responded with a tiny yip, "Pix!" Ace paused on a walk way to stretch out his arms and gaze upon the city's structures and inhabitants. He however, was interrupted by an explosive hissing sound as a speeding platform whizzed by and emitted a jet of steam. Ace jumped, slightly startled by the mechanism and he was punished when Amber dug her claws into his scalp to remain attached to his head. "Ow ow ow!" he yelped in response.
After a moment Ace recollected himself to notice several of these speeding platforms that flew across the city. Many of the platforms actually carried passengers of people and pokemon. Ace nodded to himself as he recognized the mode of transportation. This reminded him that he needed to reach the city's Pokecenter. He decided that not knowing much about the moving platforms, it would be best to walk. Plus, he had been cooped up on a boat for several days and he felt the need to stretch his legs.
Looking down at a small city map he had acquired on the boat, Ace and Amber began to walk in the general direction of the Pokecenter.

A little Skitty walked out of an alley way. It had gotten some food from a nice little restaurant that it would frequent. The owners and workers would feed it and play with it. Though lately they have been busy. It wonder when it would be taken in by someone, as it watched the many humans walk by.

Walking through crowded streets with your head down in a map isn't always the brightest choice. Amber barked at Ace just before the young man ran straight into the shoulder of a massive Machamp.
"Ooof!" The map crumpled into Ace's face as he was shoved to the side trying to catch his balance. He finally came to rest leaning against a building wall. He felt a sharp pain recede off the crown of his head as Amber stopped digging her claws into it. "Ouch, you okay up there?"
"Pix!" Amber replied encouragingly and began to sniff the air. She then leaped off and ran about 5 feet down the street so that she stood before an alley way. Ace watched as Amber spun around once wagging her tail and then barked at him "Vuuulpix!"
Ace cross the distance to the alley way in a few steps and looked in. What was inside tugged at his heart. A small and slightly dirty Skitty sat in the alley looked back at him. Signs of hunger and lack of attention were obvious to Ace. Amber looked up at Ace and then back down at the Skitty.
"Hey there," Ace kept his volume down and soft trying to appear as friendly as possible. He crouched down and reaching into his shoulder back pulled out a small biscuit of PokeFeed. It was a tasty and nutritious meal biscuit which caught Amber's attention. She loved them. "You hungry?" Ace asked while waving the biscuit before the tiny Skitty.

Skitty hissed at the unknown human and backed away. The food looked appealing but he didn't know who this human was. Wasn't one of the regulars who feed him from the restaurant so it had to be a little cautious. Maybe this one would take him home but he had to make sure the human earned it.

Ace frowned as the Skitty hissed and backed away from him. Obviously the small cat pokemon did not trust him.
"Here just have it," Ace said and he gently tossed the biscuit towards the Skitty so that it landed just feet before the cat.
Amber ran behind Ace an reappeared between his legs and cried happily, "Vulpix."
"I don't want to hurt you," Ace said to the Skitty, "I can take you to a safe place if you'd like that, or you can come with me. I'll take care of you." But even as he asked Ace felt that the Skitty would not trust him without testing him first.
